A range of packaging options are
available to customers, ranging from low cost, non-protective packaging
consisting of strapping without protective covering, to more expensive
alternatives which offer protection against physical damage and corrosion.
The most appropriate available packaging specification should be selected,
based on the material type, surface treatment, the end use of the material and
the time period that the steel coils will be held in storage. The required Code
must be specified on orders.
ArcelorMittal South Africa Vanderbijlpark Works has standardised the options
available per type of material, based on market demand. A Packaging Code,
consisting of two numbers, has been allocated to each packaging specification
(see table below). The period after delivery during which a claim for corrosion
damage will be considered is indicated for each specification.Point
to a Packaging Code and click on it to open a drawing indicating the detail of
the specific Code.
NON PROTECTIVE : Material not covered with packaging material,
and no protection against corrosion is provided.
ADVANCED PROTECTIVE : Corrosion inhibiting paper
combined with cover sheets, provide improved corrosion protection.
